Local specifics

What's different about installing cameras in Fort Worth

Most of what makes a camera system succeed or fail here is local, and a national outfit dispatching a subcontractor won't know any of it.

  • Alarm permits are a city matter. Monitored intrusion systems require a City of Fort Worth alarm permit, and false alarms carry escalating fees. We file the permit as part of the job and design for verified alarms so you don't collect those fines.
  • Heat is a real design constraint. A camera in a west-facing parking lot sees 150°F+ inside the housing in August. We spec enclosures and mounting for that, because the cheap ones fail their second summer.
  • Hail changes the math. North Texas storms take out exterior devices that were never rated for it. Impact-rated housings cost slightly more once and save a truck roll every few years.
  • Older east-side buildings are masonry. Lots of Fort Worth commercial stock is brick and block with no accessible ceiling. Cable pathway is the single biggest cost variable here — and we survey it before quoting, not after.

Fort Worth questions

What businesses here ask us

How much does commercial security camera installation cost in Fort Worth?

Eight to sixteen cameras in a single building typically runs $9,500 to $24,000 installed. The variables that move it most are days of retention, how much of the run is exterior or in conduit, and whether we can reuse existing cabling. Small retail and office suites start around $6,400. We publish these numbers because you deserve to know if we're in your range before spending an hour with us.

Do I need a permit for security cameras in Fort Worth?

Cameras alone generally don't require a permit, but the low-voltage installation work must be done by a company licensed through the Texas DPS Private Security Bureau. Ask any bidder for their license number and verify it before you award work. If you add monitored intrusion, the City of Fort Worth requires an alarm permit before monitoring starts, and false alarms carry escalating fees. We handle the filing as part of the job.

How long should we keep footage?

Thirty to forty-five days. The reason is simple: most incidents aren't discovered the day they happen. Shrink shows up when inventory reconciles at month end. A liability claim shows up weeks later. Plenty of Fort Worth businesses are running seven or fourteen days without knowing it, which is why the footage is so often already gone by the time somebody asks for it. Storage is cheap; we'd rather sell you more of it than explain why the clip is missing.

Can you service a system another company installed?

Yes, and it's a big part of what we do here. Fort Worth has a lot of orphaned systems from integrators that folded or got acquired. If it's on open standards we can usually take it over, get you back into your own recorder, document what's actually installed, and tell you honestly what's worth keeping. The assessment is free.

How fast can you get here if something breaks?

Four hours anywhere in Tarrant County for Uptime Plan clients, 24 hours a day. Central and East Fort Worth is frequently same-hour, since that's where our shop is. Without a plan it's next business day, best effort.
