Colocation suite build-out

Scope. 18 cabinets in a leased colo suite, greenfield. Structured copper and fiber cross-connect, overhead tray, grounding, and full documentation.

The hard part. Their previous suite had been point-to-point patched and had become unworkable inside two years. The whole design brief was "make sure that can't happen again," which meant patch fields sized with real headroom rather than filled on day one.

Tech campus tenant fit-out

Scope. 640 Cat6A drops across three floors, two IDF closets, and a fiber backbone to the building MDF, on a nine-week GC schedule with hard milestone dates.

The hard part. The ceiling grid went in behind us on a rolling basis, so rough-in had to lead the drywall crew by exactly the right margin — too early and we blocked them, too late and we'd be cutting ceiling.

Distribution warehouse Wi-Fi

Scope. Handheld scanners dropping connection in the racking aisles, costing real picking time. Another vendor had quoted twelve additional access points.

The hard part. Telling them the truth. An on-site survey showed the APs were mounted at truss height, above the racking, so the aisles were in shadow. We moved fourteen and added six — roughly half the other quote.

Outpatient surgical center

Scope. New IDF, 210 Cat6A drops, and redundant fiber paths between closets for a facility that cannot lose network during procedures.

The hard part. Every hour of work happened between 7pm and 5am, inside infection-control containment, with negative-pressure barriers and daily ICRA sign-off. Zero procedure days affected.

Municipal IDF remediation, 6 closets

Scope. Fifteen years of undocumented cable across six closets in three city buildings. No labeling, no schedule, and a standing rule that nobody unplugged anything.

The hard part. Proving what was dead. We toned and verified every run before removing anything — 38% turned out to be abandoned, which code required us to remove anyway. Nothing live was interrupted.

Plant floor network expansion

Scope. Industrial Ethernet to 46 machine cells, hardened enclosures, and fiber ring topology so a single cut can't take down the line.

The hard part. Everything ran in conduit through an environment with welding, grinding dust and washdown. Standard commercial cable would have failed; the pathway design cost more than the cable did.

The pattern

Half of these started as somebody else's job

Not because those contractors were incompetent — because the documentation stopped when they drove away, and two years of undocumented change is what actually breaks a cable plant. Handing you the paperwork isn't a courtesy. It's the part that determines whether the install holds up.
